Centers for Independent Living (CILs) are powered by passionate staff dedicated to serving people with disabilities. They are guided by the core philosophy that all individuals have the right to control their own lives and make their own choices. What makes CILs unique is that they are created “for and by” people with disabilities. Federal law requires that at least 51% of staff and board members are individuals with disabilities themselves, ensuring authentic leadership, lived experience, and true representation within the organization.
